Card Patterns Sketch 17

The term has come to an end today for some of our Design Team members so it's a sad week for me. I have grown to love them all.

They have helped me a lot whether it's a decision to make, a friendly advice or ideas to make Card Patterns better. I value not only their professionalism, time, effort, talent and friendship but I really value their honesty!

Rae is an all around talented crafter. I love how she express herself in different forms of crafting, from card making, to layouts and altered art.
You have to look closely to her projects to appreciate all the little details she added, because that's where you'll see her love of art.

If many of you do not know, not only Sonya have passion for mix media, altered projects, layouts, card & jewellery making, she has a great talent in painting. Have you been to her blog? If not, you're missing out! She has a unique keen eye for details and that's what I love about her work. Sonya is sweet, and the most down to earth person you'll ever meet.

Marie oh sweet Marie! I've always enjoyed Marie's clean style of card making. If you haven't noticed, she makes her cards to perfection! :)
All the details in her cards are always polished, from the way she cuts the paper to the way she knot her ribbons. Did I say she is one great stamper? Marie is committed, open minded person and is filled with great ideas!

If there is someone who is not afraid to speak her mind, it is Ingrid, which is one of her many good traits that I value the most. Her openness is what brought her closer to my heart. Not only she is a talented sophisticated crafter, I consider her a great friend. As many of you know, Ingrid's work has always been beyond expectation.

These amazing ladies have contributed a lot to Card Patterns and have helped me build an amazing site from the ground up! I can't stress enough how I value them and I'll sure miss them all! I'm so proud of you all! And as sad as I am to see these ladies go, I am excited to showcase the new members' talent next week. So don't forget to join us!

Another plain and simple sketch to follow this week! Do a vertical or a horizontal card. Flip them, turn it upside down, stamp or paper pierced a bigger image you have been wanting to use. Father's Day is coming, so it may be something you can do!

This week, we are thrilled to work with our guest designer who is one super talent! Come join us in welcoming.

A little info about Savitri:

"Hi! My name is Savitri Wilder and I got "suckered" into scrapbooking sometimes in 1999 and stamping a year later or so but I didn't get into creating regularly until November of 2007. I live in Missouri with my family, a husband, daughter, two dogs and soon to be baby girl #2 (due June 4th!!!). My family's my inspiration! I work full-time and also teach 1-2 classes/semester online. I work with computers a lot and it's so nice to have a hobby that helps me relax and also produce pretty things. Here's my take on it and I hope you will come and play along too!!!"

We are so lucky to be sponsored once again by Digi Shack. Toni is such a generous lady, not only she has treated the team for 3 weeks in a row, she is giving away again 2 digital stamps of her choice to 1 random winner!

It's about time that we showcase talents from our team and see how they turned, flipped or stayed true with the sketch... along with the other little details.... :)

Mr. Linky

As many of your know, Mr. Linky has been having issues to due major server overload. They decided to disable auto-linkies.

The great news is... I decided to upgrade Card Pattern's membership with Mr. Linky (kaching!). We are still using Mr. Linky but we are not using their standard auto-linkies anymore and hope we won't be affected by their major server overload.

The bad news is.... many of the link uploaded before they disabled all auto-linkies were erased. Our apologies for this inconvenience but if you could kindly:

- Write your name and the link to your card again for Sketch 16 HERE.
We wouldn't want you to miss being entitled to be voted for our Top 5 and a chance to be our Guest Designer or win 2 digital stamps of your choice from our sponsor Digi Shack.

I will work on adding the links and names of people who left a comment with a link to their blog.

It is always advisable to leave a short comment after linking your card just in case this kind of thing happens again, we know who participated and where to find you.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Welcome! New Design Team Members

First and foremost, I would like to thank each and everyone who took the time and submitted an application for the Design Team call. I do appreciate all your time and I have visited each blog. It breaks my heart to not have picked everyone and I'm truly sorry if your card wasn't one of them!! I hope everyone who applied will try out again for the next DT call.

I would also like to thank everyone who voted our poll. After receiving numerous e-mails with regards to some of the Top 20 seeking for votes in other forums it has led me to take the votes into consideration and picked the new addition to the team on my own with some help from our current DT.

After much deliberation, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the new members who will join Card Patterns team!

(click on the box to be directed to their blog)

The new team will showcase their first sketch on June 6 (Saturday) so please watch out for it!!!

Thank you for checking in!
Have a lovely week everyone!

Card Pattern Sketch 16

My apologies that I wasn't able to look at everyone's take this week, sorry about that!
There has been issues with blogger, I've heard that many had issues too. And Mr. Linky seemed to have resolved the glitches that we experienced these past few weeks.

We are once again spoiled by Digi Shack and we are lovin' it! Thanks to Toni for generously providing these images to us and for another round of sponsoring.

One lucky random winner will receive 2 digital stamps of their choice from Digi Shack.

This week's sketch can be flipped into so many ways! See below how our amazing talented ladies transformed this sketch into several ways using Digi shack images.

First, let me have the pleasure of introducing our Guest Designer for this week. Welcome to Nina B all the way from Croatia!

Here's what Nina has to say:

"My name is Nina and I'm a Filipino-American now living in beautiful Croatia. I'm married to a wonderful man and mom to three sweet girls. I'm new in the craft blogging community and have enjoyed making friends and participating in different challenges, Card Patterns being one of my favorites. I never knew I had an artistic side until a friend gave me a box of supplies as a going away gift when my hubby and I moved to Croatia. As soon as I opened that box, I started a love affair with cardmaking. Just recently, I'm excited that one of my dreams has come true - to become a stamp illustrator and paper designer. Two of my stamp sets are currently being sold through There She Goes and many more will come in the near future through another company, so stay tuned. God has blessed me beyond my expectations and for that I am eternally grateful".

And here is Nina's beautiful creation! Don't you just love the summery colors and how she colored the vines and added a big bold butterfly accent instead of the square?

Who Will Be The Next Designers?

If you have not noticed, the Designer Call was not posted in other website, blog or forum where we can get more exposure. Why we did not, you may ask? Here's a little secret!
  • We wouldn't be where we are now without all of you who have participated with us since the beginning, even for those of you who have just discovered us and have started spreading the word. And with our heartfelt gratitude, we would like to give first chance to you who have been a part of our family!
  • Picking our Top 5 is getting harder each week. Not that we are complaining! That only means we are already overflowing with talented crafters like YOU! Why look somewhere else?
Having said this, there are already 2 spots taken on the Design Team spot and only 2 more left! The choices were narrowed down from 40 to 20. It's been countless hours spent on narrowing it. We have grown to know many of you, we want to give everyone a FAIR chance! And we want to include you in our decision making this time! Who would you vote for based on these 20 cards? Please take the poll when you have a chance!

Simple rules we ask of you:

  1. Please vote FAIRLY.
  2. We encourage that you vote for the card that strikes you best.
  3. We would not know who voted and who you voted for. We can only see the results of who had the most vote.
  4. Please do not post in your blog to ask your readers to vote for you or your friend.
  5. You can only vote once.
  6. The poll is on the sidebar of this blog and the photo of the Top 20 finalist below. Voting is open until Wednesday, May 20.

(click on the picture to enlarge)

We want to know your style.
We want to know what appeals to you best.
We want to know who you would pick!

It would be lovely if you could help narrow the choices down!
This is going to be exciting!! Can't wait!

I admire this girl! Here's what Eveline have to say:

"Hi everyone! My name is Eveline and I'm 46 y/o, married and have a 14 y/o daughter and 9 y/o son. We live in Netherlands, Europe.
When I was living in Tucson AZ (2001-2002) I bought my first craft supplies, a bone folder and 2 punches as I wanted to make a Valentine's cards for all the students in my daughter's 1st grade class. I didn't meet any scrapbook or card makers during that year and I didn't start scrapbooking and card making not until 3 years ago. I really love to play with paper and I love shopping for supplies.
I was very suprised when I found out I won the spot to be a Guest Designer here at Card Patterns. It made me a bit nervous but I love working with sketches and this sketch was no exception. I hope you all will have fun making card for Card Patterns this week"!

And here is Eveline's interpretation of the sketch. She used the sentiment Thank You for Being You. Please head over to Eveline's BLOG when you get a chance and leave her some sweetness!

And our in house team just rocked me with their imagination!!!
